• Freeze plugs blown out. Occasionally the freeze plugs will blow out inside the fuel pump.  If this is the case with your fuel pump, this indicates extensive problems within the diesel fuel pump. Fuel pumps that have the freeze plugs blown out will certainly need to be replaced, and the old pump’s core is no good (cannot be exchanged).
