• Freeze plugs blown out. From time to time the freeze plugs will blow out inside the diesel pump.  When this happens, this indicates serious damage within the fuel pump. Fuel pumps that have the freeze plugs blown out will need to be completely replaced, and the core is not any good, so it cannot be exchanged.
