Occassionally only the MRomp fails, and not the internal parts of the diesel pump.  To identify if the MROMP fuel pressure regulator is the problem, first carefully examine the MRomp to determine if it has any metal flakes or other contamination (debris, non-fuel liquid, etc.) inside of it, or near where it screws in.  If so, there’s likely another issue that is causing the MRomp to stop working, and you will likely need to replace or rebuild the diesel fuel pump and clean your diesel system.
• Blown out freeze plugs. Occasionally the freeze plugs will blow out internally within the fuel pump.  When this occurs, this is an indication of serious damage on the inside of the diesel fuel pump. Pumps with the freeze plugs blown out will have to be completely replaced, and the old pump’s core is not eligible for exchange.
