• Blown out freeze plugs. From time to time the freeze plugs will blow out internally within the fuel pump.  When this occurs, this is an indication of extensive damage within the pump. Pumps with the freeze plugs blown out will certainly need to be completely replaced, and the core is not eligible for exchange.
