Do you want a Rebuilt Common Rail diesel fuel pump for your 2006 Dodge Ram with 5.9L Cummins Diesel?

How can you determine if there is a failing fuel pump?

Have you been experiencing any of the following issues with the truck’s engine? If you are experiencing any of these problems, you then may be having issues with your truck’s diesel pump.

  • Vehicle Will Not Stay Running – When the vehicle’s pump isn’t correctly providing fuel to your fuel injection system, the engine could starve for diesel, and will not run.
  • Truck Hard To Crank – If the engine’s diesel pump loses it’s strength, but hasn’t yet entirely failed, there’s a good chance that the fuel pump is not sending sufficient diesel to the injectors during cranking, causing a hard to start-up engine.
  • Substantially Decreased Power – There are countless potential causes for lowered diesel engine horse power in your 2006 Dodge Ram with 5.9L Cummins Diesel – one possibility may be a fuel pump that’s not working properly.  In the event that the diesel pump is not pumping properly, it may fail to send enough fuel to your fuel injector system to give your vehicle the correct power levels.  Because there are so many issues could be causing decreased power however, proper troubleshooting of your reduced power is very important.

What is the cause of fuel pump troubles in 2006 Dodge Ram with 5.9L Cummins Diesel Engines?

Sometimes pumps go bad, typically as a result of bad diesel . When this happens, your vehicle may encounter poor performance, difficulty cranking, or total failure to start.

The following are typical causes for fuel pump failure:

  • Contaminants and/or bad diesel – Bad fuel pumps are ususally caused by bad fuel (contaminants in the fuel,) which can damage the diesel pump, causing them to fail.
  • Failing Fuel Pressure Regulator. The fuel pressure regulator is an electronic part on the pump that sometimes goes bad. Sometimes just the Fuel Pressure Regulator stops working, instead of the actual internal parts of the fuel pump.  To identify if the Fuel Pressure Regulator is the problem, you’ll need to examine the Fuel Pressure Regulator to determine if it has any metal flaking or other contaminants (debris, water, etc.) inside of it, or around where it screws in.  If so, there’s almost certainly a more significant issue that’s causing the MRomp to go bad, and you should replace or rebuild the diesel pump and clean out your diesel fuel system.
  • Blown out freeze plugs. From time to time the freeze plugs get blown out inside of the diesel fuel pump.  When this happens, this is an indicator of extensive internal damage within the fuel pump. Fuel pumps with the freeze plugs blown out will have to be completely replaced, and the core is not eligible for exchange.
