• Failing Fuel Pressure Regulator (MRomp). The fuel pressure regulator is a small part on the fuel pump that will sometimes go bad. Occassionally just the MRomp goes bad, rather than the actual internal parts of the diesel fuel pump.  To identify if the MROMP fuel pressure regulator is the problem, you should carefully examine the Fuel Pressure Regulator to determine if it has metal flaking or any other contaminants (trash, water, etc.) within it, or around where it screws in.  If so, there is probably a larger problem that’s causing the MRomp to fail, and you should replace or rebuild the diesel pump and clean out your diesel fuel system.
• Blown out freeze plugs. Sometimes the freeze plugs get blown out within the diesel fuel pump.  When this occurs, this is an indication of extensive damage on the inside of the pump. Pumps that have the freeze plugs blown out will need to be completely replaced, and the old pump’s core is not eligible for exchange.
